Mark Dara, Road Commissioner

Mark Dara is a native Long Islander. He has been a resident of Huntington Bay for the past 13 years

with his wife, Karen, and his two children, Katy and Rory.

 

He has recently retired from a 42 year career as an IBEW, Local Union #3 electrician.  He has

worked in all facets of the electrical trade, working his way up from - Apprentice, Journeyman,

Foreman, and General Foreman up to General Superintendant- overseeing a workforce of over

2,000 workers.

 

In 1977, he received his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Labor History

from NY Institute of Technology.

 

Over the years, he has served in many voluntary positions including Local 3 Foreman’s Committee,

Safety Committee, 17 years as an office of the Keystone Club of NY.

 

As a Bay Hills resident for 13 years, he has been on the BHPOA Board for 12 of those 13 years in many capacities, including a 4 year stint as president of the association.

 

He is also a board member of the Huntington Band Parents Association for the Huntington Blue Devil Marching Band.  And as an active PTA member, he also assists with the “School of Rock” program in the Woodhull Intermediate School for the last 4 years.

 

He was recently elected to the Village Board of Trustees and will take on the responsibilities of Road Commissioner.
