HALLOWEEN SAFETY

Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween, but not when it comes to child safety.

With Halloween falling on a Tuesday this year, we anticipate the popular trick-or-treating hours to be between 4:00pm - 9:00pm. Please read the following tips to keep our neighborhood children safe.

Walk Safely

  • Cross the street at corners.

  • Put electronic devices down and keep your head up when walking.

  • Teach children to make eye contact with the driver before crossing in front of them.

  • Watch for cars that are turning or backing up.

  • Tell your children to never dart out into the street or cross between parked cars.

Trick or Treat

Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be out without supervision, remind them to stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups.

Night Time

  • Have kids carry glow sticks or flashlights to help them see and be seen by drivers.

  • Use reflective tape or stickers on costumes or bags.

Drive Safely

  • Slow down and be alert!

  • Take extra time at stop signs and intersections to be aware of kids.

  • Exit driveways slowly.
