Mayor Morrow opened the meeting at 7:45p.m. There
is one public hearing.
The Police Department hired a part-time police officer
Kenneth Demarest. Officer Demarest was a NYC Police
Officer for twenty years and a detective in the special
crimes unit. The Board of Trustees welcomed him.
Public Hearing –Fitzgerald –
48 Bay Crest
Neal Hoffman, AIA, of Hoffman Grayson Architects came
before the Board representing the Fitzgerald’s
for the addition of a swimming pool, patio and screened
in porch. After a lengthy discussion it was decided
that the hearing will be held open until next month.
The hearing ended at 9p.m. and the transcript was
taken by Laura Pinto.
Police Report
Chief Hubbs gave his report. There was a DWI arrest
on Vineyard Road. The police recovered stolen property
and were able to return it to the rightful owner.
There was damage done to Bay Crest Beach, the perpetrators
were caught and charged. The Chief said the police
have been showing more presence at the beaches.
Concerned Residents
Some residents are concerned about a potentially dangerous
condition on their street. Another resident raised
questions about drainage.
Steps On Vineyard Road
The steps will be built when the Village receives
the DEC permit. Once the Village receives the permit
a contractor is ready to build the steps.
Resolution
A motion was made by Mr. McCusker to enter into an
inter-municipal agreement with the Town of Huntington
for the Town to patrol Huntington Harbor and Huntington
Bay. The motion was seconded by Mr. Meyer and unanimously
approved.
Village Attorney’s Report
Mr. Gesualdi reviewed his report with the Board and
discussed future code changes. Mr. Gesualdi will draft
a demolition local law pertaining to demolition and
site plan review for new construction for next month.
Maximum height for a house and set backs were also
discussed.
Village Administrator Report
Lynn Pincomb presented her report. The mortgage tax
has not been released from the state legislature.
The audit will be completed this month.
Financials / Bills
The Board reviewed the interim financial statements
and the list of bills and, after review, questions
and discussion, a motion was made by Mr. McCusker
to approve the list of bills and the interim financial
statements which was seconded by Mr. Gai and unanimously
approved.
Hurricane Katrina
Chris Cannon, RN at Huntington Hospital is going down
to the Gulf Coast Region to help the victims of Katrina.
Nathan Hale Beach Club collected two thousand dollars
for her to offset expenses and the Village collected
another twenty one hundred dollars.
Appointments
A list of Village appointments for the fiscal year
was presented to the Board. A motion to approve the
appointments was made by Mr. Meyer, seconded by Mr.
Rave and unanimously approved.
Road Commissioner’s Report
The snow plowing is going out to bid. It will be published
in the paper this week. Mr. Gai is still trying to
work on moving the telephone pole on East Shore Road.
The beach box in front of Willow Pond will be rebuilt.
Minutes
A motion was made by Mr. Meyer to approve the August
minutes as amended, seconded by Mr. McCusker and unanimously
approved.
With no further business to be brought before the
Board, the monthly meeting was closed at 10:30p.m.
