Minutes, Board of Trustees, August 9, 2004

Village Administrator: Lynn Pincomb

Mayor Morrow opened the meeting at 7:40p.m. The three public hearings that were scheduled were canceled. Mayor Morrow reviewed the Village appointments with the Board. A motion was made by Mr. McCusker to approve the appointments, seconded by Mr. Gai and unanimously approved.

Police Chief’s Report:
Chief Ray Hubbs updated the Board on the month’s activity. Officer Schondebare has to have an operation and is expected back to work in November. Chief Hubbs and Sergeant Guirgis have interviewed six candidates the full-time position. Mayor Morrow and Mr. McCusker will interview them as well. The new police car should arrive within the next few weeks.

Village Attorney’s Report:
The Board reviewed and discussed Mr. Gesualdi’s report.

Village Administrator’s Report:
Mrs. Pincomb presented her report. Six hundred and thirty property taxes have been paid. There is no Zoning Board meeting this month. The Villages independent auditor is conducting the annual audit and it should be finished within the next few weeks. Mayor Morrow, Mr. Meyer and Mrs. Pincomb will review the report with Mr. Hulse when the report is finished. Mayor Morrow asked Mrs. Pincomb to call the Huntington Community Development Agency to renew the Village’s application for a handicap ramp at the end of Vineyard Road.

Financials / Bills
The Board reviewed the interim financial statements and the list of bills and after careful review, questions and discussion, a motion was made by Mr. Gai to approve the list of bills and the interim financial statements, seconded by Mr. McCusker and unanimously approved.

Road Commissioner’s Report
There are five sections of road that will be paved on Bay Avenue, Vineyard Road, and Bay Road that will be put out to bid. Mr. Gai wrote a letter to residents on East Shore Road and asked them to cut back their hedges that are overgrown. There are blind curves because of some over grown shrubs that obstruct visibility of vehicular traffic.

The New Residents party is scheduled for September 12th from 4-6p.m at Bay Hills Beach. The Mayor invited the Board to the SCOVA Legislative Breakfast on October 7th. Ray Madhesian is being honored by the Village of Asharoken for his 40 years of service. Mayor Morrow is going to write a proclamation for his years of service at the Village of Asharoken and the Village of Huntington Bay.

Police Contract
At 8:45p.m. the Board convened into executive session to discuss the police contract. At 9:45p.m. the Board reconvened as the Board of Trustees.

A motion was made by Mr. Gai to approve the July minutes as amended, seconded by Mr. McCusker and unanimously approved.

With no further business to be brought before the Board, the monthly meeting was closed at 10p.m.
