Deputy Mayor Dennis Gai opened the meeting at 7:35p.m. There are two public hearings this evening.
Police Report
Chief Ray Hubbs presented his report. The Chief and Sergeant will be attending a training conference on April 25-28th for Middle Atlantic Great Lake Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network (MAGLOCLEN) Association. There have been eight burglaries outside of the Village on and near Cove Road in the past ten months. The Chief has asked that the Second Precinct keep him informed on any new developments. They have been occurring during the day. The Chief asked that everyone be more aware and careful. There has been press about false alarms with home security systems. The Chief said he would rather residents have alarm systems than not. The department doesn’t get that many false alarm calls that it inhibits them.
Public Hearing – Burns - 162 Bay Avenue
– Lot Line Modification
At 7:40p.m, Thomas Abbate, Esq. came before the board representing the Burns to merge three separate tax lots into one lot. This application is before the Board for site plan review. Mr. Burns agreed to no further subdivision if this application is granted. A motion was made by Mr. Meyer to approve the Burns application, seconded by Mr. McCusker. Public Hearing - Villanova – 7 Locust Lane – Front Porch & Cellar Entrance
At 8:25p.m, Thomas Abbate, Esq. came before the Board representing the Villanovas to build a front porch and a cellar entrance. This application is before the Board for site plan review. A motion was made by Mr. Meyer to approve the Villanova application, seconded by Mr. Rave and unanimously approved. The transcript was taken by Laura Pinto. The hearing was closed at 8:35p.m.
Village Attorney’s Report
Mr. Gesualdi reviewed his report with the Board. There was a discussion about an Article 78 that has been field against the Zoning Board. The Board also discussed a letter sent to Bay Crest concerning the beach club status.
Budget
Mr. Gai discussed the proposed budget with a 6.25% tax increase. This budget includes a new police car and reflects increases in gas and oil. After review, questions and discussion, a motion was made by Mr. McCusker to approve the proposed budget seconded by Mr. Meyer and unanimously approved.
Village Administrator’s Report
Lynn Pincomb presented her report. The assessment role is final. Nominating petitions may be circulated now and they can be filed as of May 9th.
Election Resolution
Resolve that the annual Village Election will be held on Tuesday June 20, 2006 at the Village Hall, 244 Vineyard Road, Huntington Bay, New York between the hours of noon and 9p.m., so moved by Mr. McCusker and seconded by Mr. Meyer and unanimously approved.
Financials / Bills
The Board reviewed the interim financial statements
and the list of bills and, after review, questions
and discussion, a motion was made by Mr. Meyer to
approve the list of bills and the interim financial
statements which was seconded by Mr. Gai and unanimously
approved.
Road Commissioner’s Report
Mr. Gai gave his Road Commissioner’s Report. Street sweeping will start April 24th. The gabion channel will be cleaned out and the pot holes on the Village roads have started to be repaired.
Minutes
The Board reviewed the March minutes. A motion
was made by Mr. Rave to approve the minutes as amended,
seconded by Mr. Meyer and unanimously approved.
With no further business to be brought before the
Board the meeting was closed at 9p.m.
