April 18 Last day for board of trustees to adopt a resolution stating the poling place in each district and the hours the polls will be open which shall include at least the hours from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. Election Law § 15-104(3)(b)(2).

May 8

Last day for board of trustees to appoint election inspectors. Election Law § 15-116(1)

May 13

Last day to file independent nominating petition for an office to be filled at the general village election.  Election Law § 15-108(8)(a).

Note:  Not later than 35 days before the general election.

Note: Upon filing a certificate of nomination or petition nominating a person…the village clerk shall mail notice thereof to each person.  Such notice shall state the last day to decline and include a statement that the candidate’s name shall appear on the ballot as it appears in such notice.  Election Law § 6-144

May 16

Last day to file certificate of acceptance or declination of an independent nomination for an office to be filled at the general village election. Election Law § 15-108(8)(b

May 19

Last day to file certificate to fill vacancy caused by declination of an independent nomination for an office to be filled at the general village election.  (Notarized) Election Law § 15-108(8)(c)

Note:  Not later than 3 days after the last day to file a certificate of declination.

June 6 Last day to register with county board or elections to be eligible to vote in village election.  Election Law § 15-118(2)           

Note:  At least 10 days prior to election.

Last day for village clerk to publish notice stating:

  1. polling place in each district
  2. hours during which polls are open (at least noon to
    9:00 p.m.)
  3. names and addresses of candidates, offices and term nominated for, and
  4. abstract of any proposition.  Election Law § 15-104(3)(b) and (4).

    Note:  at least 10 days prior to general village election. Such notice must also be posted in at least six (6) conspicuous places in the village and at each polling place at least one (1) day before election.
June 10 Last day for board of elections to provide a list of registered voters to the village clerk.  Election Law § 5-612(1)
June 10 Last day for village clerk to receive application for absentee ballot which is to be mailed to a qualified voter.  Election Law § 15-120(5)
June 11 Last day for village clerk to mail absentee ballot to qualified voters. Election Law § 15-120(5)
June 16 Last day for village clerk to receive personal application for absentee ballot, from applicant or applicant’s agent.  Upon application, the village clerk shall deliver such absentee ballot for a qualified applicant to the applicant or agent named in such application.  Election Law § 15-120(5)
June 17 Date of general election.  Election Law § 15-104(1)(a)
June 18 Date for inspectors to file certificate of canvass of votes with the village clerk. Election Law § 15-126(1)
June 20
